Each year the Chesapeake Chapter of the American Printing History Association (APHA) gather for its annual Wayzgoose and business meeting.
We always print a keepsake broadside at each of these yearly meetings. Many of the most active members are letterpress printers, each year producing a calendar which we still. The money goes toward supporting Denker Fellowships for student members.
You don’t have to be a member to join us for the Wayzgoose, but here are the details for joining the group and supporting its efforts.
Membership in APHA is $50 a year with an additional $15 charge to join the Chesapeake Chapter.
Our chapter is one of the most active chapters (there are 8 regional chapters). We typically sponsor our own meetings, but regularly attached ourselve to scheduled events sponsored by the Library of Congress and the Washington Rare Books Group.
Generally centered around the Washington, DC. area many of meetings are held at the Library of Congress. Often many chapter members will arrange additional time to visit the Rare Books Reading Room. There is an active group of chapter members who print via letterpress. Often on the Days of meetings many of the members will gather for lunch at a nearby watering hole.
If you are interested in joining in, you can fill out the accompanying form. Ray Nichols will get in touch to make sure you know the address.
