Lancaster Printers Fair awards

award for letterpress printing pipe rolling competition

We are members of the .918 Club, a devoted group in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, who are working hard to keep the craft of letterpress alive and well.

In the fall of 2017 they were holding their annual Printers Fair, and asked us to produce a certificate for their College Tube Roll Competition. About a dozen colleges cut relief prints out of cardboard and printed them by rolling large tubes over them. The students seemed to have great fun in the process.

We had made a 16" high Onyx alphabet out of linoleum cuts and used it to produce the gold, silver, and bronze certificates. Millersville University was the Gold winner. They did a great job of incorporating the texture of the corrugation from the cardboard relief cut as part of the image.
