We talked a lot more about this project in our Meander Book Creative Letterpress workshop but wanted to highlight it as a book effort on our part.
Jill and Ray took a bookmaking workshop with Claire Bolton of Alembic Press in Oxford, England, during the summer of 2004. That workshop introduced us to the meander book format which through creative scoring and tearing produces a 16-page accordion-fold text block. Another bookmaking experience gave us the idea for the cover. Coupling the 2 together gave us the basis for this killer workshop for 6 to 14 participants who produce a 2-color, hardback book without any glue or sewing.
We've done this workshop for more than 65 groups.
A very nice element to the book is that we provide Rare Books and Manuscripts at the Library of Congress and Special Collections at the University of Delaware Library with complete sets. It provides an important way to precisely show students that their creative work can get noticed by some very intriguing people outside their normal sphere of influence and also will be exposed to the public for decades, maybe even centuries, into the future..
This is the end of our book portfolio.
