Edgar Allan Poe - "Words have no power..."
Poe fan? Letterpress fan? Poster fan? Here’s an opportunity for you.
A 1,008-piece puzzle, 20” (w) x 26” (h).
Background: The image, and check both, is a digital composite of two “ink pulls” from Lead Graffiti’s studio. Ink pulls are produced by inking our Vandercook Universal III press rollers with thinned ink and pulling two sheets of cover stock (thick paper) between them through the press with the rollers engaged. The rollers are printing on each other rather than printing something like wood type. Cool and honest, you never know what the results will be.
Typography: The typeface, called ShahnTorn, was designed by Lead Graffiti as wood type. We’ve laid out the text and cut it out of an acrylic sheet with our laser cutter. The result is we can remove the actual letterforms, so we can print the background of the type, letting the ink pull show through. We print this on a separate sheet, photograph it, and digitally add it to the ink pull image. Poe’s name is added as an opaque fourth layer to complete the image.
Package: Individual loose pieces in a plastic bag inside a box, with the puzzle image on the front.
Shipping: Free via USPS within the continental U.S.
