THE IMAGE AT THE TOP shows the 4-cent stamp issued by the U.S. Postal Service honoring journalism and freedom of the press on September 22, 1958. An initial printing of 120 million stamps was authorized.
The stamp features a hand holding an old-fashioned quill pen, a simplified stylization of an early common printing press, and horizontal and vertical bars, suggesting type bearers.
Lead Graffiti agrees with this idea and is currently sending a postcard to every U.S. Senator every 3 weeks or so. It's been said that "Freedom of the press" only works if you own a press. We own several and we use them. We invite you to find a way to get involved.
