TdLG / 2011 : Stage 3

Norway has two cyclists in the race. They've now won 4 stages. I'm not going to be surprised by anything Norway again.

Boasson Hagen of Sky Procycling takes the stage. Wow. Two Alp stage high finishes in a row. All his lactic acid has probably decided to go somewhere else.

We had a crowd in the studio. Chris and Jen are designers at Two Paper Dolls in Philadelphia. I've long admired their work, so it was fun to have some serious design air swirling around. Virginia Green who teaches graphic design at Baylor University is joining us for the final five stages which should teach her a few things about the Tour de France and endurance letterpress.

We kind of turned things loose for the group. As the new contributors aren't experienced Tour de France followers we just said, "Use what you felt." So there were lots of racing words, hairpin curves, push, pain, etc.

One of the visual elements of the stage was the climb and descent from Pramartino which was an incredibly narrow, tree lined road. No way two cars could pass each other with small dwellings built into the side of a 60 degree slope. One interesting aspect was one very tight curve that was missed by two cyclists at different times (one was Yellow Jersey Voeckler) who drove through the curve and into the 2-car parking space for a house. That parking area will likely be famous for a few years to come.

Didi showed up so the trident is included.
